Saturday Nov. 14, Holly Holm knocked out undefeated Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC, champion, Ronda Rousey, something that NO ONE was expecting.
Rousey, 28, made multiple threats against Holm, 34, prior to this fight. “Fake ass cheap shotting fake respect fake humility bitch,” Rousey posted on Instagram prior to the match.Along with, “Preacher’s daughter’ my ass- I see through your fake sweet act now- you’re getting your ass kicked tomorrow, and I’m really going to enjoy the beating I give you #andSTILL.”
Many celebrities are firing back against Rousey, saying that she was just too confident for her own good.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Laila Ali, Muhammad Ali’s daughter and retired undefeated champion herself, spoke on Rousey’s loss. “In order to be the best in the world, you definitely don’t ever get beat up like that in your prime, period,” Ali, 37 said.
50 Cent, lover of boxing and good friends with Rousey’s enemy Floyd Mayweather posted a photo of Rousey, one where she was just knocked out by Holm. The rapper captioned it, “LMAO FLOYD TOLD ME TO POST THIS.”
Even Donald Trump, Republican presidential candidate, weighed in, as he always does with a tweet saying, “Glad to see that @RondaRousey lost her championship fight last night. Was soundly beaten- not a nice person!”
Following her defeat, Rousey shared a message with her 6.5 million Instagram followers. “I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support,” she wrote late Sunday night. “I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.”
Rousey is currently in Melbourne, Australia in hospital for her only minor injuries, according to officials.
Yes, Rousey lost. Yes it is her first loss. But just think of the comeback, people. You know it will be epic in all Rousey-form.
By the way, I think it is great to see that so many people have opinions on this female fight that have nothing to do with gender. It is such a positive thing to see these strong, female role models in boxing.
