Rob Lowe’s Attack on Paris

As most of us know by now, on Friday evening, Paris was hit by multiple, structured terrorist attacks. Attacks included suicide bombings, gun usage, and killed more then 120 people, and leaving hundreds injured. The entire world has been shook up by this horrible occurrence.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Paris and to the families affected by the tragedies.

Celebrities around the world have sent their support to Paris, including tweets, cancellations of tours and events in respect, and instagram posts showing the love.

But, Rob Lowe chose not to do this.

Rob Lowe decided to do the opposite and do the offensive thing.

Lowe is receiving backlash from his comments about the French government via Twitter.

Beginning sympathetically with, “Vive La France! #Paris,” the actor tweeted before calling out French President Francois Hollande about his decision to close the country’s borders following the initial attack.

“Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande,” Lowe wrote, then following with judgements on the president’s televised address about the attacks. Lowe called it, “the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst given. #Hollande.”

The Grinder star later defended himself after being slammed by followers. He wrote, “Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase ‘Vive La France’ is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France. Don’t misinterpret my words.” He then added, “Lived in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love. #FrenchPrayers.”

Do I think Lowe spoke to soon?

Yes, one hundred per cent. He automatically went to criticisms of the government instead of to think of the victims, the families, and the civilians of Paris. Therefore, yes this was stupid move on Lowe’s part.

Do I think people are jumping to conclusions about Lowe?

Yes. I think in regards to celebrities, there fans want to know there every waking thought, but when it is controversial they are quick to say that is wrong. But, isn’t that what the fans want? To know what celebrities are thinking about issues in the world?

Pick your poison, Hollywood-lovers.
