The View (and I) Weighs in on Dax Shepard’s Vasectomy Confession

“The View” strikes again.

Yesterday on the talk show, the ladies discussed actor Dax Shepard’s recent interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!.”

Shepard confessed to Kimmel that he had a vasectomy after his wife, Kristen Bell, thought she was pregnant with baby No. 3.

The couple have two children together, Lincoln, 3 and Delta, 17 months.

Although Shepard admits it was a scare, he wanted to be sure that would not happen again (the couple had previously decided they only wanted two children).

“I had a vasectomy and Kristen was not thrilled that I did it so quickly,” he told the late-night host. “But I’m a man of action, so I was in and out. I was back in Atlanta two days after that shooting a Samsung commercial.”

The ladies on “The View,” had something to say about this.

Joy Behar chimed in and said she believed he should have had a sit-down conversation with Bell before doing it without her knowledge.

“Shouldn’t he have had a little more of a conversation with the woman?” Behar posed.

Others on the panel were quick to defend this seemingly snippy comment.

Raven Symone said she believed they had the vasectomy discussion, but Bell did not seem to know about the appointment.

But it was not until guest co-host Jedediah Bila posed a hypothetical question to the panel, that the conversation took a different sort of turn.

“Is there a “double standard” by society about how we treat people’s bodies?,” Bila explained that women say they want to have total control over their bodies in terms of abortion and getting tubes tied, but “then we tell a man you gotta check with us.”

PEOPLE, I HAVE NEVER EVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT LIKE THIS AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS REALIZATION CAME FROM “The View!”

This is a total double standard that Bila poses to Behar, (who later says, “In terms of an abortion it certainly is a woman’s decision to make,” Behar stated. “It’s my body I do what I want.”).

How are we as women supposed to look men in the eye and say “I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT BECAUSE IT IS MY BODY AND MY DECISION,” when getting a vasectomy is a also a personal choice on one’s body, what is the difference.

Women get abortions against their male companions wishes all the time for many different reasons; financial stability, age, not planned, etc. And men get vasectomies for a variety of different reasons as well; doesn’t want children, doesn’t want any more children, age, etc.

So why should women get to decide whether or not they want to bring a child in the world, but men cannot.

Behar is completely wrong here in her quote about how it being different because it is ultimately a women’s decision.

She needs to open her eyes.

I get that women hate when men do things behind their back, and I am not condoning Shepard’s lie to Bell.

I get feminism, I get that women are supposed to stick up for their rights.

Yes men have tons of rights in this world that women do not have, but can they not exercise their present rights.

The right to decide if he wants kids or not should be a fundamental right, something that he should be able to decide on his own (just like women should have the fundamental right to an abortion if she wants it).

Really think about it, and tell me what you think!
