Well, it’s the weekend people! I hope you are all enjoying this Saturday and ready to dive into some entertainment headlines with me,
1. ORLANDO, FLORIDA- Sad news to start off with this morning.
A previous contestant from “The Voice,” Christina Grimmie has been pronounced dead after being shot at her show in Orlando last night.
“She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. If you’d like to give back to Christina’s family in her memory, please consider donating to the families GoFundMe page in their time of need,” her publicist told E! News.
After being shot by a male (who then shot himself), Grimmie was taken to hospital.
Grimmie was signing autographs with another band outside the venue when she was shot.
“Upon arrival officers found the male suspect, who was deceased and one victim who was gravely injured. That victim, singer Christina Grimmie, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries,” the Orlando Police tells E! News.
“Detectives were told the suspect, who is not being identified at this time, walked toward Christina and shot her. Christina’s brother immediately tackled the suspect stopping him from causing any more harm to Christina and her fans. During the struggle, the suspect shot himself. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Grimmie participated in “The Voice” in 2014, Adam Levine was her coach.
“The Voice” took to Twitter to express their sadness for Grimmie’s family.
“We are heartbroken. @TheRealGrimmie is a loved member of our family. Our thoughts are with her and her family. #PrayForChristina.”
Levine also posted a throwback photo of him and Grimmie to express his grief as well with the caption,
“I’m sad, shocked and confused. We love you so much Grimmie. We are all praying hard that you can pull through this…this just isn’t fair.”
Earlier this year, Grimmie released her second EP, Side A, which consisted of four songs, with plans to later release Side B.
#RIPChristina is now trending on Twitter.
- NEW YORK- In relationship news, looks like Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik didn’t break up.
Admidst all the break up rumours from this week, the young couple stepped out in New York together, arm-in-arm if I might add, on Friday.
E! News is reporting that a close source says, the couple “broke up for a week,” but have “decided to work it out with each other.”
Hadid confirmed the couple’s status when she took to Snapchat yesterday when she shared a snap of kitchen goodies with custom Nutella jars with their names on them with the caption, “Kitchen goals.”
GUYS I AM SO HAPPY THEY DIDN’T BREAK UP. I LOVE THEM TOGETHER SO MUCH!
- CALIFORNIA- In television news, Disney will now have its first Latina Princess (well very soon anyways)!Disney has announced the series, “Elena of Avalor,” which will feature the first Latina Princess in Disney history, Princess Elena, voiced by Aimee Carrero.
It will debut July 22 and will premiere a one-hour special event to introduce the new Princess.
I love this because I feel like young girls need to have strong role models, and not just one ethnicity either. The diversity that Disney has been bringing is making me feel proud.
