This morning, I want to talk about an ongoing feud between two divas in Hollywood, singers, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey.
Both Queens, both amazingly talented.
It began in the early 2000s, a prime time in both their careers. Mimi allegedly told paparazzi that she “didn’t know” who Lopez was (Come on, Mariah, IT’S JLO for goodness sake).
And Mariah didn’t stop there.
In March of this year, Mimi was asked again by paps about Lopez and she replied with, “I still don’t know her!”
I am bringing up this feud in light of how things get blown out of proportion in Hollywood, by a single comment.
In coming to the defense of her fellow Latina JLO, singer Demi Lovato apparently slammed Carey in a series of comments on a celebrity gossip account, The Art of Shade (they have been since deleted) late Thursday.
The post was in regard to Lovato’s very good friend and fellow singer, Ariana Grande.
The post was comparing Grande to Carey, saying Grande is a lesser version of Carey (Since they both have that belt-it-out-voice).
Lovato commented, saying, “You got it the wrong way around honey.”
Then, Lovato apparently brought up the Carey vs. Lopez feud that has recently resurfaced in the media (SO SHE WAS NEVER ASKED ABOUT THE FEUD, SHE JUST WANTED TO CASUALLY MENTION IT…).
“Mariah is a legend and so talented but constantly disses people. It’s nasty the way she treats Jennifer,” Demi continued. “Ari did nothing wrong.”
Mariah’s fans, or Lambs, fought back against Lovato through the power of comments. She responded, trying to back up her statement.
“This is why I posted what I did. Jen keeps it classy but I’m not afraid to say s–t. The woman is mean for no reason.”
She continued with,
“Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely.”
Okay, so what’s the latest on the feud?
Last month, Mariah appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen, and he asked her about these alleged incidents.
“That was so long ago,” she said. “I can’t believe people still make such a big deal out of it.”
She also added, “Apparently, I am forgetful. It wasn’t like I don’t know who she is- of course I do. That’s not the question.”
Cohen then asked if she thinks J.Lo is cool, in which Mimi responded in the most Mariah Carey way. “I don’t know her. What am I supposed to say? I’m not going to put on a thing like we’re all Hollywood and let’s pretend we’re best friends.”
What I think
This will be brief.
Demi, girl, stay out of this. It is so much bigger than shes thinks.
I mean, Lopez and Carey are legends, and masters at being divas.
Demi could be this in the future, but right now, she is making a name for herself.
Step away, it’s for your own good.
