Today we lose a truly great Hollywood director, one that brought up some of the most well known actors today in his films.
Garry Marshall has passed away at the age of 81.
Marshall had an astounding career, filled with success. Marshall got his start as a joke writer for comedians, later leading him to writing on “The Tonight Show,” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
Writing for comedy became his life. Marshall co-created and produced television gems like “The Odd Couple,” “Happy Days,” “Mork & Mindy,” and “Laverne & Shirley.”
This is the man who gave us “Overboard” with Goldie Hawn and “Beaches.” In the 90s, he gave us the shining jewel that is Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman,” “Frankie & Johnny,” “The Other Sister,” “Runaway Bride,” and “Exit Eden.”
Marshall directed “Princess Diaries 1 & 2” people! And “Raising Helen” with Kate Hudson, and “Georgia Rule” starring Lindsey Lohan and Jane Fonda.
This man made feel-good films, for the young and the old.
Rest in peace, Gary Marshall.
