Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have recently settled their divorce, but that isn’t stopping people from commenting about it.
Heard filed for divorce in late May, stating publicly Depp is an abusive, drug-addicted alcoholic.
The pair settled their divorce in August, with Heard receiving a $7 million settlement to drop her case (this being her accusations of abuse).
Heard announced she was donating her settlement to charity, including the ACLU and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
But friends of Depp are rushing to his side to support the 53-year-old actor.
Marilyn Manson, a friend of Depp, is one of these supportive friends.
In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Manson discusses his strong friendship with Depp and how he views the scrutiny his friend is being put under.
“Lily-Rose is my goddaughter and I was there when [his son] Jack was born, so we go back,” he shared with the publication. “Johnny is one of the nicest people that I know—to the extent where it’s almost heartbreaking how kind he is to his friends, and everyone around him. I know that he was completely crucified—unjustly.”
Manson continued with, “I would stand by him on anything.”
After the announcement of the settlement, the pair sent out a joint statement to E! News, stating their status as a now divorced couple.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm,” the couple said in a statement to E! News. “Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity. There will be no further public statements about this matter.”
Manson told the publication Depp is handling the divorce “the best he can.”
The rocker also talks about Depp’s children and how he is as a father.
“It fills me with joy to see his kids grow up and be so smart, and so hilarious,” he shared. “[Me and Johnny] played a show together not too long ago. It’s hard to say when you talk about your friends. Of course I think that all of it was bullshit, and I think that he is a great person. I wouldn’t agree with any of it if someone were to put me on the stand and ask me what I know, or what I’ve witnessed.”
Still have no comment on this, but thought I would update you all on this story.
