Mark Wahlberg is back on the big screen, and it reflects his true Boston- self.
In the new film, “Patriots Day,” Wahlberg stars as a Boston police sergeant guarding the annual Boston Marathon.
According to the trailer, the thriller seems to follow two explosions that terrorise the city of Boston and how a group of Massachusetts authority figures ban together to capture the perpetrator.
“This visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston,” reads the official movie description.
The movie was obviously inspired largely by the city’s 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing, leaving six dead and nearly 300 people injured from the explosions along Boylston Street during the race.
Wahlberg is joined by stars like Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, Kevin Bacon and John Goodman.
