In the latest movie buzz, Sony has announced its latest animated film project.
The animated film “Emojimovie: Express Yourself” will hit theatres next summer, and will star the voice of T.J. Miller from Deadpool. Sony has just added to that list, announcing late night host James Corden will also voice in the film.
“Emojimovie: Express Yourself” unlocks the secret world of emojis in your smartphone. It will follow the city of Textopolis, which is hidden within the messaging app on your phone.
All the emojis live there, waiting to be selected by the phone user. Each one is born with only one facial expression, except for Gene (played by T.J. Miller).
He was born with multiple expression. Gene is determined to become “normal” so he enlists the help of his best friend Hi-5 (voiced by Corden).
They team up to find the code that will fix Gene, but run into trouble. The team must save the world before it gets deleted forever.
How fun does this film sound?!
Kristine Belson is the President of Sony Pictures Animation. She said emojis have become so popular that creating a movie just makes sense.
“Over six billion emojis are texted every day, and emojis have become a universal language that transcends age and culture. The power of emojis is that they allow you to express yourself in a fast and very fun way, and that is what our movie is about: self expression. We are very lucky to have some of the smartest and funniest actors today bringing their unique voices to this movie.”.
Director Anthony Leondis also spoke on Corden’s character.
“Hi-5 is a high-five emoji who is a highly motivated, and highly dramatic, hand on a mission (sorry), and the brilliantly versatile, ebullient and always lovable James Corden fits this part like a glove (sorry again),” said Leondis.
Congrats to James Corden!
