2017 Movie Releases: What you can expect in the new year

2016 is almost over, which means a lot of new movies are coming out this month.

But what about 2017? I’m here to give you all the movie lovers out there an inside look at the most highly anticipated films coming in 2017.

First up, Justice League: Dark. This film comes out January 24th. It is an upcoming animated superhero film produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

The film will feature the DC Comics team, with the same name that was created by Peter Miligan and Mikel Janin. The film will be the twenty-seventh instalment for the DC Univerise Animated Original-Movies series.

Directed by Jay Olivia, it will star the voices of Matt Ryan, Jason O’Mara, Camilla Luddington, Nicholas Turturro, Jerry O’Connell, and Ray Chase.

It will the first of the Justice League films, and the second DC Universe animated film to receive an R-rating.

Next up we have the World War II film, Dunkirk. This Warner Bros. film is a British war film written, co-produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan.

Set in World War II, it will centre around the battle of Dunkirk and the evacuation.

The film stars Tom Hardy, newcomer and singer Harry Styles, Mark Rylance, and Jack Lowden. Filming began earlier this year in May in Dunkirk, France.

The film is set to release July 21st.

Now onto horror. Ouija 3: The Charlie Charlie Challenge is set for January 3rd. This horror film is the third installment to the series, and follows a group of young teens who get invited to an eccentric haunted house owners home to play a terrifying game called Charlie Charlie.

The film stars Bryan Massey, Todd Jenkins, Gwendolynn Murphy, Tom Zembrod and Cliff McClelland.

The film is sure to deliever so terrifying screams, check out the trailer below.

And speaking of horror, let’s move onto the horror/thriller gene.

Amitville: The Awakening is an upcoming supernatural horror film and the seventeenth installment of the Amityville series.

Distributed by Dimension Films, it stars Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Thomas Mann, Jennifer Morrison, and Kurtwood Smith.

It follows three siblings, Belle, Juliet and her comatose twin brother James after they move into a new home with single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare.

But when strange things begin to happen in the house, including the recovery of her brother and Belle’s horrifying nightmares, she suspects her mother is telling her everything. They soon learn they moved into the famous Amityville house.

The Amityville series is based on the horror book “The Amityville Horror” written by Jay Anson in 1977. The book is claimed to be based on the paranormal experiences of the Lutz family. A series of films have been released based on the book from 1979-2015.

The film is set to premiere on January 6th.

Maybe you’re looking for something for the whole family!

Scooby Doo Shaggy’s Showdown is set to go direct-to-DVD on February 14th.

The animated comedy mystery film is the twenty-eighth entry in the Scooby-Doo films.

In great Scooby-Doo fashion, the film follows the gang when they visit a dude ranch. They discover it and the nearby town have been haunted by a ghostly cowboy known as Dapper Jack, who fires real fire from his fire irons. The mystery goes even further when they discover the ghost has a long lost relative of Shaggy Rogers.

 

The cast includes the voices of Frank Welker, Grey Griffin, Matthew Lillard, and Kate Micucci.

These movies are always a good time and guarenteed some laughs! Here is the trailer for the animated film.

For the action lovers out there, Vin Diesel is back as Xander Cage. 9 years later, the third installment to XXX series is ready to come out.

XANDER-CAGE.jpgxXx: Return of Xander Cage is set to premiere on January 20th.

Extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (played by Vin Diesel), who was supposed to be dead, comes back out of self-imposed exile to race Xiang (Donnie Yen) to recover powerful weapons known as `Pandora`s Box.` He recruits a group of bad-ass, thrill-seeking cohorts, but finds himself caught up in a deadly conspiracy of corruption among world governments.

Others to star alongside Diesel include Ruby Rose, Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, and Tony Jaa.
